We Welcome All Dental Insurance
Many Lincoln families rely on dental insurance to make their family’s care affordable, which is why our practice is happy to accept virtually all PPO dental insurance plans. In addition to maximizing your benefits, we can also answer any questions you have about your coverage so you know how to get the most out of it every year. Below, we’ve written a short guide on how to save as much as possible with your policy every time you come to see us.
Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
The key thing to know about dental insurance is that it doesn’t work exactly like health insurance. Yes, a monthly premium gives you access to deeply discounted healthcare services, but dental insurance is mostly focused on helping people pay for preventive care. This is so that little problems can be taken care of early so patients don’t develop bigger issues that require more extensive (and expensive) procedures to fix. In the end, this helps people have healthier smiles over time and spend less on their dental care.
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
While there are different kinds of plans provided by a multitude of providers, most dental insurance plans’ benefits work something like this:
- Preventive services like checkups, cleanings, X-rays, and dental sealants are covered 80-100%.
- Restorative services like fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, root canals, and extractions are covered 45-75%.
- Cosmetic services, including teeth whitening and porcelain veneers, are typically NOT covered because they are deemed elective.
So what does all this mean to you? If you’re looking to get the most out of your plan, the best thing to do is attend your two recommended checkups and cleanings each year. Insurance will mostly or completely pay for these appointments, and they’ll save you from developing cavities and gum disease that require restorative care.
Our In-Network PPO Dental Insurance Providers
Our practice not only accepts almost all dental insurance plans, but we are also in-network with the majority of providers as well. This simply means that we have an agreement with each provider to charge lower fees for our services, which they then partially cover. That means when you visit a practice that is in-network with your plan like us, you actually save money in 2 distinct ways. However, even if we are NOT in-network with your plan, we may still be able to use it to help you save significantly at your visit.
